Paradise Valley Birthing Center
A healthy start begins with preparing early for a healthy pregnancy, delivery and new Baby.
Our Maternity Services Include:
Maternity Tours
Our Maternity Tours will acquaint you with the New Life Family Center BEFORE labor begins. We invite you and a family member to attend a free Maternity Tour (Spanish—2-3 PM, first Tuesday of each month; English—2-3 PM, second Tuesday of each month). During this introduction, you will have an opportunity to view our Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Post-partum (LDRP) suites, learn what to expect during your hospital stay, and discuss with our staff members any questions or concerns you may have.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a painless procedure that allows your doctor to check the baby's progress and well being while still in the uterus. If necessary, your physician will order this test for you.
Obstetrical Anesthesia
Twenty-four-hour obstetrical anesthesia is available through Anesthesia Care Providers. You may consult with your doctor before your admission to discuss any questions and concerns you may have.
Social Services
We understand that while having a baby is a joyful, wonderful experience, it can also be a stressful time for new parents. A new baby can bring new worries and new responsibilities. During your stay at Paradise Valley Hospital, a social worker who specializes in maternal/child health is available to assist you during this life transition. The Social Services department can provide you with emotional support, educational materials and referrals to community resources. Please let us know if we can help you in any way.
Cesarean Births
If your physician has scheduled you for a Cesarean birth, you are asked to arrive at Paradise Valley Birthing Center approximately two hours before your scheduled delivery time or as instructed by your physician. At this time, you will be admitted and instructed on your pre- and post-op care. At the discretion of the anesthesia provider, typically one person may be allowed to be with the mother during a Cesarean delivery.
Daddy, Da-Da, Dad
Dad gets special attention, too, at Paradise Valley Birthing Center! He is welcome to stay throughout the night in your LDRP suite. Before you go home, a complimentary meal will be served to both of you, so he can stay with you during postpartum care. And we haven't forgotten the "bubbly"* to toast your new accommplishment together.
*Non-alcoholic
Newborn Hearing Screening
The New Life Family Center is able to conduct Newborn Hearing Screenings for both inpatients and outpatients.
Jaundice Screening
Prior to discharge, your baby will be screened for jaundice and the results will be given to you and your pediatrician.
Visitors
At the New Life Family Center, we encourage family to be involved in supporting you during your stay and helping to celebrate the miracle of a new life. Immediate family may visit, at your request and at the discretion of your physician and anesthesia care provider. Please specify those members of your immediate family when checking into the hospital. You may choose the amount of time you wish to spend with family members, yet be sure to allow yourself plenty of rest and quiet time. Visitors outside of the immediate family must check in at the reception desk or nurses' station from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Small children must not be left unattended at any time. For you and your new baby's safety, we encourage that all children visiting must have current immunizations. Visitors with fevers, infectious diseases or runny noses are will not be allowed to visit. We look forward to seeing your growing family soon!
